Home Statement of Purpose

Statement of Purpose.

You may be asked to submit a Statement of Purpose or Personal Statement, this is a very important part of the application form, an opportunity for you to outline why you wish to study for a specific subject or degree course at a specific university.

It is a good idea to tailor your Statement of Purpose to the individual course and institution that you wish to attend. There is nothing more off putting for an Admissions Tutor to read that you want to study in X university when they are reviewing applications for Y university!

When writing a Statement of Purpose, make it personal to you. It is important that you demonstrate your academic engagement with the subject matter and show that you have at least a working knowledge of the courses or modules that you will be studying on a specific degree. It’s a good idea to study the website and course material before you apply.

There may be subtle differences between different degrees for which you may be applying, some may offer exams at the end of the module or year whereas others may be assessed solely by written work. You need to do your research before you apply as if you get onto the wrong course you are the one to suffer!
