Where do I start with looking for a suitable degree in the UK?

The UCAS website is a great place to start. It has a section on how to choose courses as well as tips on how to make a good application.

How do I apply for an undergraduate course?

Undergraduate students apply via www.UCAS.com . UCAS will handle your application to a range of universities/colleges of your choice.

Can I find out what other students think about courses and institutions?

You can get access to the National Students’ Survey from www.Unistats.com information includes a student satisfaction survey as well as leavers destination figures so you can find out what other students think about a course and how it helped them with work or further study.

How do I know if I’m eligible for the degree course or institution I wish to apply to?

All institutions will have guidelines regarding what grades you need to get to obtain an offer. Some courses will also have specific subject requirements and grades – this information is usually in the prospectus or on the website. University websites can be found here.

I’m not sure of what is meant by some of the terms?

I’m not sure if I will be considered as an overseas or a home/EU fee payer?

As a rule, even if you hold British Citizenship but live overseas, you will be considered to be an overseas fee payer. You can obtain further information from the UK Council for International Student Affairs www.ukcisa.org. UKCISA offers useful, practical advice on studying and living in the UK.

What about recent changes to the UK student visas?
